Customer service in The Bahamas, England and France

March 4th, 2010 | by Shaun |

A few days ago, I took a look at customer service in Canada, the US & Mexico.  Here’s a peek at The Bahamas, England & France:

The Bahamas: B
The Bahamas has a bit of a split personality when it comes to customer service.  If your a tourist, the grade is an A.  Bahamians understand how important the tourism industry is to them, and they work very hard to keep them happy.  If you’re a resident, however, it’s a bit of a different story.  My experience has been that Bahamians can be quite rude to their fellow countrymen.  A “C” at best. Quite puzzling behaviour from a people who I have found to be exceptionally warm and pleasant overall.

England:  C
The Brits may not want to hear this, but from a customer service point of view, Londoners are just New Yorkers with a more pleasant accent.  “This is the way we do things, and if you don’t like it, tough” is the unspoken message throughout England’s biggest city.  Customer service seems to improve dramatically, however, the farther away you get from London proper.

France: B-
What can be said about customer service in France that hasn’t already been said?  In truth, however, I have found that the stereotypical French rudeness is not nearly as prevalent as one might believe.  In fact, some of my most pleasant service experiences have happened in France.
